Nollywood actress Nneoma Ukpabi says she is back for the top position in the Imo State Chapter of Actors Guild of Nigeria having served on acting capacity between 2008 and 2010.
The highly endowed actress who spoke to www.otowngist.com said she is back to make a difference in the system and doesn’t see anyone stopping her this time.
Nneoma Ukpabi who became the State Chairman on acting capacity in 2008 following the impeachment of the then Chairman McDonald Ekemezie on the grounds of a violent act against another executive, stayed in the position for two years, and according to her, “problems accompanying the impeachment of McDonald Ekemezie left me unsettled until in 2010 when I organized an election that brought the now outgoing Chairman, Umez Chibueze Nnanna Conac”
According to the light skinned actress, it will be wrong for people to say that she has been the Imo AGN Chairman as this would be the first time she would be running for the highly coveted office.
“I could not unfold my plans then because I was unsettled. There were problems here and there and all I could do was organize election and let everything go for the sake of us having a united AGN in Imo State”, she said.
If elected, she has revealed that she has already designed some programmes that will transform AGN in the state by making it a global brand which will empower the young ones and cater for the veterans.
“We will surely have accountability as our watch word while working towards setting up programmes that will make our members prominent people in the society.
“We would establish a better sub industry in Imo State, one that will be appreciated around the country and beyond and this is the only way we can have our people make something out of their business and also be known around the world.
“Another area is the molestation of our young girls and we will do everything possible to ensure that our girls get roles because they are good enough and not because they have slept with someone”, she added.
So far, there are six contenders for the position of AGN Chairman in the state and Nneoma Ukpabi’s way to describe it is ‘Nneoma Ukpabi and others”.
