The Madonna University Alumni Association on December 3, 2016 concluded her 4th National Convention, which also saw the election of new executives that will pioneer the affairs of the association for the next three years.

The convention which took place at Tourist Garden Hotels and Resort Asaba, Delta State had 14 state chapters from across the country, as the association used the platform to look into issues that will ensure it becomes a world class Alumni Association.

With two-term President Mr. Chima Achu stepping down, Mr. Ifeanyi Samuel Rapu became his successor in a keenly contested election which has been applauded as free and fair.

Other winners at the election are Mr. Chuka Nwachukwu – Vice President; Barr. Emeka Odogwu – Secretary; Mr. Humphrey Chukwuedo – Assistant Secretary; Larry Osula – Treasurer; Mr. Obiora Nweze – Financial Secretary; Mr. Chinedu Hardy Nwadike – Publicity Secretary; Mr. Endurance Okoh – Auditor and Miss Queentamary Muoghara – Welfare Officer.

Speaking after his election, the new president, Mr. Rapu hailed the innovation by the electoral committee especially on the live streaming of the convention for members around the world to watch. He further disclosed his three point agenda which include creating a platform where proper networking can take place between members; working towards making the association financially independent and working towards the development of the alumni, those coming into it and giving back to the school.

Mr. Rapu further stated that the present executive will never misplace the confidence bestowed on them, adding that they will create an association where everyone will be heard. He then hailed previous administration for their tremendous achievement in the area of membership drive and relationship with the school authority.

Earlier at the convention, the outgone president Mr. Chima Achu presented his score card, adding that he is grateful to God for being with him through the two tenures of six years he served. Having been appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the association, Mr. Achu thanked everyone for believing in him, adding that it will always be an honour to serve in any capacity.
