The State House of Assembly, last week, passed a resolution mandating the Local Government Civil Service Commission to quickly reinstate Mrs Lucy Nkiru Nzeoma, who was unlawfully suspended by the commission for refusal to work under a junior staff in her area of posting.

Considering the report of the Assembly’s adhoc-committee on a petition (SAVE OUR SOUL), Reappointment of Treasurers in the unified Local Government system gross injustice, by the committee of the whole, under the chairmanship of the speaker, Chief Acho Ihim, the Assembly observed that injustices were meted on Mrs Nzeoma.

Also, adopting the adhoc-committee led by Hon. Arthur Egwim’s report, the State House having thoroughly investigated the matter, understood that, the petitioner, Mrs. Nzeoma’s transfer by the commission, as a senior staff to work under a junior officer is unfair, whereas, the victimized senior civil servant has held the position of internal auditor for nine years.

Still in their observation upon findings, the Assembly lawmakers noted with dismay, the marginalization of Mrs. Nzeoma, as she was not supposed to work under a junior staff, in line with the local government civil service commission rules.

Speaking, while commending decision by the Assembly, after adopting the committee’s report as a working document, the deputy Speaker, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo, said that, the local government civil service commission should be cautioned in their dealings with the workers, than blame the executive for flimsy misgivings.

However, the commission was mandated to re-absorb the victimized senior worker within two weeks.
