Trailer crushes Keke along Okigwe road

Tragedy was Thursday averted at the ever busy Okigwe Owerri road, Owerri, Imo State capital, as a trailer driver lost control and rammed into a tricycle (keke) but miraculously no life was lost in the accident.
The accident which occurred at about 3:10pm in front of the State Water Board, Okigwe road was described as the greatest miracle of the year considering the speed and impact of the trailer on the Keke which was carrying two passengers, yet no casualty was recorded.

According to an eye witness account, the trailer which was carrying goods and was entering into the city from Okigwe road, lost control because of break failure along the heavy traffic grid lock, then crushed the Keke pushing it under a coca-cola trailer that was also held up at the traffic jam.
Witnesses who blamed the accident on the trailer driver’s recklessness said he equally ran into a bus pushing same into gutters with some passengers. The trailer equally scratched an official car belonging to Champion newspapers before hitting the tricycle (Keke).
The Keke with the plate number Imo OK 310-UML was crushed beyond repair by the trailer with the vehicle number Jigawa XA 625 GGW, and the Coca-cola vehicle had the plate number, Imo XA 128-WER.
The driver and the conductor of the trailer escape immediately the accident happened, for their dear lives, believing there was casualty.
The crowed at the scene was seen giving God praises for preserving the lives of the driver of the Keke and the two passengers.
Speaking to newsmen, the Keke operator gave God thanks for sparing his life and that of the two passengers.
He gave his name as Idam Nkama from Ebonyi State adding that he knew not what happened since he was in front of the trailer.
Speaking further, the tricycle driver said “I was on the traffic jam, suddenly a trailer rammed on my Keke that is the only thing I can tell you because I fainted during the process.
For Mr. Francis Okafor who identified himself as the auditor of the Daily Champion newspaper, “It was the grace of God that saved the victims of the accident.
The official car of the Champion newspaper, dark Hyundai Accent, was dented by the trailer.
Mr. Okafor said while at the traffic jam he observed that the trailer had lost its break so he quickly wheeled off the tarred road and got only a scratch from the trailer.
Members of the Nigeria Police force were seen inspecting the degree of the accident at the scene.
